Diners in McCall will have another dining out option starting tonight. Jasmine + Ginger will open on the lower level of the Yacht Club building on Lake St. (Highway 55) in the mountain town.
Lakeview Dining, LLC owns the restaurant, which is operated by chef Steven Topple. Topple grew up in England, but eventually made his way to McCall, where he served as head chef for Shore Lodge and Whitetail. Later, he ran the four private restaurants for Whitetail.
Last year, he opened Italian joint Ragazza Di Bufalo in Donnelly. Now, he’s adding to the portfolio along the lake with Thai food in McCall.
Jasmine + Ginger picked up the liquor license from Si Bueno, which closed after 41 years in July.
The floorplan filed with the State of Idaho for the license shows two lake-front dining areas, a deck for dining along the lake and a lounge and beer and wine bar.
Jasmine + Ginger replaces The Anchor restaurant which quietly closed late this summer.
McCall Thai food on the lake
The new menu features main dishes like Crispy Snapper, Stir-Fried Eggplant & Tofu, Curry and Pad Thai. Salads, appetizers and a Thai-inspired dessert menu round out the offerings. The restaurant will also feature “Bento Hour,” from 4-6pm with satays, mini pad thai, egg rolls and fried rice.
Like The Anchor before it, Jasmine + Ginger will provide a food menu to the Yacht Club.
Despite opening at the height of the slow season in McCall, Topple told Facebook fans that the restaurant is booked out for its first weekend.
“Thursday night is our official 1st night of being open to public, unfortunately or a good thing we are completely booked out Thursday Friday and Saturday,” he wrote. “There is a room in the bar area if you want to eat there.. hope you come visit next week when all the excitement eases up..”
Jasmine + Ginger plans to open its doors Tuesdays-Sundays from 5-9:30pm.
